Tuesday's lesson :What i learnt

In today's lesson we went through the types of themes we could possible make our magazine , Halloween , Christmas , Easter , firework night , summer etc . This was helpful as i didn't think of themeing my magazine especially because it's for school , Mrs James then took as round the school for the perfect photo places we could take our picture .I will probably choose the front of the school or the quad maybe even the main building , i will probably take test shots in these different areas to see what the best outcome is and use the best one for the magazine cover .

The theme of my magazine is still undecided , i might do Halloween as it  would be a lot of fun to make , the front cover could include a pupil with a shadow behind them , or summer as its very vibrant and you can use very bright colours to make the magazine cover stand out .

Also the magazine would be either about the 6th form or the main school (7-11) , if i was to do i 6th form magazine i would make it very modern and i wouldn't make it just about school ,I'd add other things to make it interesting and so that the 6th form would read it . and the front cover would have to have a member of the 6th form outside .

As for the main school i would make  the front cover stand out alot because when your that age you don't really want to read you just want to watch telly , it would also have to have a member of the any year , but obviously not including the 6th form .

The camera shot we must use is a mid-shot this is from the waist to the top part of your body , finding the right place is key , it must show the pupil with out make-up on and dressed in perfect uniform to show the standards are very high . same goes for the 6th form shot they must be dressed in perfect smart wear , a little make-up is good .

Finding the right location is imperative it must hold good lighting and fit to the theme also .

  1. Some thoughtful points.
Remember, you could choose a more specific target audience than this - you don't necessarily need to think of Years 7-11 as one homogenous group, as creating a magazine to appeal to ALL of them would prove very difficult indeed!
Re theme - remember to also take your publication date into account. Season is an important factor for publishers when deciding the theme/colours for each publication.
